How AI is Reshaping Education in Art Schools
As a professor at a leading art institute, I am facing a dilemma. Do I ban AI in my classroom to preserve traditional skills, or do I embrace it as the future of the industry?
We chose to embrace it. We now offer courses on AI art direction alongside life drawing. We teach students how to use these tools critically—to understand their biases, their limitations, and their potential.
We aren't dropping foundational skills; you still need to understand color theory and composition to write a good prompt. But we are adding a new layer to the curriculum. The goal is to graduate artists who can lead the new wave, not be replaced by it.
