AI and Music: The Death of the Composer?

By Marcus ThorneFebruary 15, 2026

Music has always been considered the most direct expression of human emotion. But now, AI systems are generating symphonies, pop songs, and ambient tracks that are indistinguishable from human compositions.

Is this the end for human composers? I don't think so. AI can generate notes, but it doesn't have lived experience to draw from. It can mimic style, but it can't innovate with intent.

However, it is changing the workflow. Producers are using AI to generate loops and harmonies, freeing them to focus on structure and feeling. It's not a replacement, but a powerful assistant.
